Ahilya Nagar:
For the residents living near Kohinoor Mangal Karyalay, every day feels like wading through a construction site. It has been six long months since the contractor dug up their road — and never returned to finish the job.
What began as part of the Ahilya Nagar Municipal Corporation’s ambitious plan to build cement roads from Samta Nagar to Tapovan has now turned into a nightmare. The road was dug during the monsoon, leaving behind a muddy mess and stagnant pools of water that turned the entire stretch into a swamp. Two-wheeler riders skid, pedestrians struggle, and elderly residents barely manage to step out of their homes.
To make matters worse, trenches dug for a new drainage line were abandoned midway. Rainwater now collects in those pits, breeding mosquitoes and raising serious health concerns.
Frustrated locals say that the festive season has brought no joy, only dirt and disease. They are urging the civic body to wake up and ensure the road and drainage work is completed before another season of suffering begins.
